Our goal at Belchertown Day School is to provide a safe, nurturing and motivating environment for your child. We are committed to guiding the development of children in a way that supports independent skills, fosters self-confidence, and boosts positive self-esteem. We are committed to supporting children’s development, respecting individual differences, helping children learn to live and learn to work cooperatively, and to promote self-awareness, health, competence, self-worth and resiliency.

We strive for security and safety at Belchertown Day School. Our facility’s playgrounds are fully fenced in with a pop-lock to ensure child safety, and all classrooms and playgrounds are appropriately licensed by The Department of Early Education and Care (EEC). Our facility is fully locked with a keypad for parents, caregivers and teachers to use upon entry. We value respect, communication and relationships with parents, caregivers and families, and use the Procare system for general communication, and to share pictures of the children.

Our center philosophy is “learning by doing”. Children in our program are given a range of opportunities to learn through play, exploration and creativity. At BDS we believe in offering hands-on experiences that promote curiosity and encourage inquiry and discovery. We use an Emergent Curriculum which is inspired and guided by the interests of the children. Our educated staff create a curriculum based around child interests and offer activities that support social-emotional growth as well as physical and cognitive development.
