Dear Parents, Friends and Families of Belchertown Day School,
I am writing this letter to inform you of exciting news regarding the future of BDS. The Board of Directors have been discussing what direction we would like to take the school for the future. BDS has been located at our current facility at 51 State Street since 1985. The building has been leased from the town since its construction. As many of you may have noticed, there are needs to update the building cosmetically and functionally.
As of the last Board of Selectmen's meeting, the town has decided they will not renew our lease on a long-term basis, providing us with a catalyst to move our plans forward.
What does this mean for you? It means that we will be on a month-to-month basis with the town after the expiration of our lease (The School Age Programs are not impacted by the terms of the lease). The town has committed to assisting BDS with transiting to a new location. In the meantime, the Board is actively moving forward on relocating BDS to a new space. We are looking at several spaces within a half mile radius from our current location to ensure continued convenience of service in our future home. We are actively seeking funding options for this project and as we progress further into it will we communicate accordingly. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate contact the Board via BOD@belchertowndayschool.org.
In closing, I would like to say that as a parent of two children enrolled in BDS programs, I am very excited for what this means to the future of BDS and being able to participate in such an impactful project for our community. If anyone would like to participate in the relocation project, please reach out to the Board at your convenience, BOD@belchertowndayschool.org.
